Biography

Alexey Sukharev was born on October 4, 1897 in the village of Krasnoe (now the Nikolsky District of the Penza Region ). After completing veterinary courses, he worked in his specialty. In 1918 - 1922 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, participated in the battles of the Civil War. In August 1941, Sukharev was re-drafted into the army. Since October of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By November 1943, Senior Sergeant Aleksey Sukharev commanded the division of the 219th battalion of engineering barriers of the 44th separate engineering brigade of the special purpose of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of November 25-26, 1943, the Sukharev’s branch transported artillery to the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Razumovka, Zaporizhia region, Zaporizhia region, Ukrainian SSR . During the flights, the Sukharev pontoon repeatedly received holes, but he promptly closed them up and continued crossing [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 22, 1944, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Senior Sergeant Aleksei Sukharev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 2724 [1] .

After the war, Sukharev was demobilized with the rank of foreman. He lived and worked in Nikolsk . He died on November 17, 1968 [1] .

He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
