Etymology
It has several similar variations in name: Radubezh Stream , Radubezh , Radobezh , Radobizh . The name "Radubezh" is similar to the names of some neighboring geographical features, including hydronyms, also ending in -he : Butezh stream, Trubezh river, Fatezh city [1] . The name "Radobezh" (Radubezh) is considered by the linguist Yu. P. Chumakova as a derivative of the name Radobud, which is preserved in the Serbo-Croatian language and goes back to the basics of rad- and bud- (from * byti or * buditi ) - "awakening joy". Such binomial anthroponyms arose even in the general Slavic era and their reflection in toponymy is available in all modern territories inhabited by Slavs , as noted by many researchers [2] .
The historian D. I. Bagaley and ethnographer E. V. Barsov believed that the name “Radubezh” is based on the name of the Radimichi tribe, however, only the history of the settlement of the region without a linguistic interpretation of the word was accepted in support of the hypothesis [3] .
On the map of Schubert in 1869, the upper reaches of the Radubezh stream, southwest of Podymovka , are designated as the Dvoryansky log [4] , and the lower course, from Zhuravinka to the Zarechye district , as the Odnodvorchesky log [5] .
Description
The length of the stream is 15 kilometers [6] . The source is located on the border of Fatezhsky and Zheleznogorsk regions, 3 km south-west of the village of Podymovka , on the northern edge of the tract Volkov Dubrava in Popovy Log. It falls 41 km from the mouth of the Usozhi in the Zheleznogorsk district, southeast of the Zarechye farm, opposite the village of Verkhnyaya Zhdanovo . In the upper reaches it is a natural border between Fatezhsky and Zheleznogorsk regions. Several small nameless streams flow into the Radubezh stream. There are several ponds on the stream, the largest of which is located near the estuary, south of the Zarechye farm. The width of the water protection zone of the Radubezh stream is 50 m above the bridge in the village of Zhuravinka and 100 m downstream [7] . Until the 1950s, the village of Radubezh was located on a stream, now divided into several settlements.
