A highway passes through Sulfat, crossing the railway line, to Lake Shchuchye (7 km) and to the northern settlements of the rural settlement "Zagustayskoye" - the village of Yagodnoye (7.5 km) and the village of Ardasan (9 km). The distance to the regional center, the city of Gusinoozersk , is 15 km by highway through the Tohoy ulus.
To the west of the village in the hollow is Lake Solyonoye , one of the Ubukun lakes , which has other names - Sulphate or Sulphate (according to the Selenga Sulphate Plant located here), from which the name of the station and the village comes.
