Biography
Frederic Carlos Hoehn was born February 1, 1882 in Juis de Fora in a family of immigrants from Germany. Hyöne's father was the owner of a rich collection of orchids, which in many respects contributed to Frederick's interest in botany. He studied Frederic Carlus in Juis de Fora, then independently studied botany. In 1907 he was appointed chief gardener at the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro .
In 1907, Hyun married Karl August Fried Kulman. They had four children.
Since 1908, Hyune regularly went on expeditions to study the Brazilian flora. Since 1917, he lived and worked in Sao Paulo . Since 1923, he was an employee of the botanical department of the Museum of São Paulo, since 1928 - the Agro-Biological Institute, the future Botanical Institute of São Paulo. From 1942 to 1952, Hyun worked as director of this institute.
In 1929, the University of Gottingen awarded Hyun the honorary doctorate for his services to botanical science.
On March 16, 1959, Frederick Carlus Hyun died in Sao Paulo.
