Biography
Alexey Suslov was born on March 4, 1914 in the village of Voskresenskoye (now the Galichsky district of the Kostroma region ). After graduating from elementary school, he worked first on the collective farm , then as a carpenter. In 1936 - 1938 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In July 1941, Suslov was again drafted into the army. He graduated from the regimental school. Since October of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the battles he was wounded four times [1] .
By January 1945, guard sergeant Alexei Suslov was an SAU driver-mechanic of the 387th Guards self-propelled artillery regiment of the 12th Guards Tank Corps of the 2nd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Byelorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . On January 21, 1945, the Suslova battery in the battles for Inowroclaw destroyed about a company of German infantry, 10 firing points, 2 bunker, without suffering casualties on its part [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 27, 1945, for “courage and heroism shown during the liberation of the city of Inowroclaw”, guard Sergeant Alexey Suslov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 8847 [1] .
After the war, Suslov was demobilized. He lived and worked first in his homeland, then in Galich . He died on June 2, 2003 , buried in the memorial section of the Galichsky cemetery [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st and 2nd degrees, along with a number of medals [1] .
