Onyi

Onyi ( French Augny ) is a commune in the north-east of France in the Grand Est region [1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardenne - Lorraine ), Moselle department , Metz district , Côte de Moselle canton [2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Montigny-le-Metz .

Onyi is located 280 km east of Paris and 8 km southeast of Metz .

The area of ​​the commune is 14.98 km², the population is 2478 people [3] (2006) with a downward trend: 2028 people [4] (2013), the population density is 135.4 people / km². Previously part of Lorraine .

History

  • The Moselle land settlement known as Auvinacum since Gallo-Roman times.
  • The village was part of the province of Three Bishoprics .
  • After the defeat of France in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871, along with Alsace and the Moselle department, it was transferred to Germany through the Frankfurt Peace and was part of Germany until 1918, when it was transferred to France again under the Treaty of Versailles.
  • After the Second World War, the 128 Mets Frescati Air Base was located here, closed in 2012.

Economics

In 2010, out of 1667 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years), 1319 were economically active , 348 inactive (activity indicator 79.1%, in 1999 - 72.1%). Out of 1319 active able-bodied residents, 1259 people worked (796 men and 463 women), 60 were unemployed (25 men and 35 women). Among 348 able-bodied inactive citizens, 159 were pupils or students , 105 - pensioners , and another 84 - were inactive for other reasons [8] [9] .
