Evgeny Adrianovich Nikolaev [comm. 1] - journalist, writer and Soviet single sniper of the 21st Rifle Division of the Internal Forces of the NKVD of the 42nd Army of the Leningrad Front during the Great Patriotic War , cavalier of the orders of the Red Banner [1] and World War I degree [2] (in some sources [ 3] it was erroneously stated that Yevgeny Nikolaev was a Hero of the Soviet Union [4] ). Biography
Evgeny Adrianovich Nikolaev was born on September 1, 1920 in Tambov . After graduating from Tambov School No. 1, he worked as a decorator at the local drama theater . In October 1940, Eugene was drafted into the army . As part of the 154th rifle regiment of the NKVD troops, Nikolaev fought in Karelia , in fierce battles he went from Vyborg to Leningrad . In the fall of 1941, the 14th Infantry Regiment was formed from the remnants of the division as part of the 21st Infantry Division of the NKVD Internal Troops of the 42nd Army , which fought on the Leningrad Front [5] . In early December, Senior Sergeant Nikolaev was appointed commander of the 5th company and from the Supreme Council of the 42nd army was awarded a nominal watch with the inscription: “Comrade. E. Nikolaev, for a military distinction in the fight against German fascism from the Military Council of the Army, ”which saved his life at the end of the same month: a mine fragment fell right in the clock. In the same battle, Eugene was injured in the left arm with a bursting bullet , which turned the upper third of the forearm, and was sent to the hospital.

February 22, 1942 in Smolny at the 1st meeting of snipers of the Leningrad Front, Yevgeny Nikolaev, who destroyed 43 enemy soldiers and officers from October 25 to November 30, 1941, and 11 of them in one day (November 29), was awarded the Order Red Banner [1] and from the administration of the Leningrad Front received a registered sniper rifle. By May 1, 1942, when snipers Nikolaev and Ivan Dobrik were present at the ceremonial May Day meeting of the Kirov Plant , on account of Eugene there were already 124 destroyed enemies. According to a note in Pravda on August 5, 1942, a sniper Nikolaev killed 104 fascists in 3 three days, at that time he had 187 enemy soldiers and officers on his account.
In December 1942, after several wounds, Nikolaev was transferred to counterintelligence and was appointed the operative officer of the SMERSH department in his division, on his sniper account there were 324 confirmed destroyed soldiers and enemy officers [7] . Nikolaev went through the whole war, reaching Berlin and signing on the Reichstag wall, as part of the 96th howitzer artillery brigade of the 23rd artillery division.
After the guard war, reserve captain Yevgeny Nikolaev worked at the editorial board of the Tambovskaya Pravda newspaper [8] and at the Tambov Regional Library named after A. S. Pushkin , and was a member of the Tambov regional branch of the Union of Russian Journalists public organization. Evgeny Adrianovich Nikolaev died on February 22, 2002 .
