According to the US Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 5,325.045 km 2 , of which 5,213.675 km 2 is land and 43,000 km 2 or 2.110% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 58,795 inhabitants live in the district as a part of 23,041 households and 15,368 families . The population density is 11.00 people per km 2 . On the territory of the district there are 25,097 residential buildings, with a building density of about 5.00 buildings per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 92.40%, African Americans - 2.22%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 2.07%, Asians - less than 1.00%, Hawaiians - less than 1.00%, representatives of other races - 2 , 43%, representatives of two or more races - 2.43%. Hispanic made up 1.91% of the population, regardless of race .
34.30% of the total number of households are children under the age of 18, 55.20% of households are married couples living together, 8.40% of households are single women without a spouse, 33.30% of households households are not related to families , 27.20% of households consist of one person, 9.80% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone.
