Varaz-Grigor is the first ruler of Caucasian Albania (628-636) from the Mihranid dynasty , hereditary ruler of Gardman .

Biography
The father of Varaz-Grigor, Vardan, was the great-grandson of the founder of the Mihranid dynasty . His accession to the throne of Albania was consecrated by the Albanian Catholicos Viro [1] . According to Georgian chronicles, in 628 in the Gardman region, Varaz-Grigor and “all his people” were baptized by Emperor Heraclius I and his transition to Chalkedonism took place . In the early 30s of the VII century , when the Arabs were preparing for the capture of Western Asia , he participated in the gathering of the Persian army . His son Javanshir, the future ruler of Albania, was at the head of the Albanian military detachment [2] .
