Georgy Ambartsumovich (Andreevich) Avanesov ( June 21, 1922 , Lugansk - October 17, 1982 ) - Ukrainian Soviet conductor , Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1973).

Biography and creative activities

In 1948 he graduated from the Voroshilovgrad College of Music. Popularizer of folk music.

In March 1945, an orchestra of ten people was organized at the City Palace of Pioneers . Over time, this orchestra achieved great creative success in performing the best Russian and Ukrainian musical works, music of the peoples of the USSR , as well as musical domestic and foreign classics. All the creative activity of G. Avanesov is connected with this orchestra.

Later - the artistic director of the amateur orchestra of folk instruments of the House of Culture of the Voroshilovgrad diesel locomotive plant named after October revolution . In 1946, the orchestra gave its first concert, in 1948 for the first time took part in the Republican show of amateur performances, in 1954 - participated in Kiev and Moscow in celebrations on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine and Russia .

Having successfully performed at the regional and republican competitions, the group of musicians under his leadership received the right to perform at the All-Union Competition in 1957, where he won a gold medal and the title of laureate of the All-Union Festival of Soviet Youth, became part of the USSR delegation to the VI World Festival of Youth and Students .

In 1960, the team was awarded the title of "folk orchestra", and G. A. Avanesov - Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. In the summer of 1963, the orchestra was invited to tour in Moscow, where he performed at VDNH .

Since 1967 - Honored Folk Orchestra of the Ukrainian SSR. In the same year, G. A. Avanesov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor . The orchestra team in this period of time totaled 50 people, and in the first half of the 1970s more than a hundred people played in the orchestra.

In 1973 Avanesov was awarded the honorary knowledge “ Honored Art Worker of the Ukrainian SSR ”.

In 1987, the orchestra was named after G. A. Avanesov.
