Biography
He studied theology at the Theological School of the University of Athens . He was ordained to the rank of deacon and priest, Metropolitan Jerome of Thebes (Liapis) [1] .
Since 1993, he served under the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Istanbul quarter of Fanar . He was the director of the Patriarchal Library and the secretary of a number of synodal commissions, serving in the St. George’s Patriarchal Cathedral in Fanar in the dignity of the great archimandrite of the patriarchal throne [1] .
On October 30, 2012, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, he was unanimously elected titular Metropolitan of Kidonies [2] .
On November 18 of the same year, in the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George on Phanar, he was ordained bishop of Kidonies with the elevation to the rank of Metropolitan. The consecration was performed by: Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, Elder Metropolitan of Derky Apostle (Daniilidis) , Metropolitan of Imvre Cyril (Dragunis) , Metropolitan of Miletus Apostle (Vulgaris) , Metropolitan of Miriofit and Peristasian Irinei ( Iimanichlorod Iimanichlorid, Iomanid Nanakis) , Metropolitan of Thebes George (Mandzuranis) and Metropolitan of Kalliopolis and Matis Stefan (Dinidis) [3] .
In February 2015, among 10 other clerics of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, he received Turkish citizenship, which allows him to participate in the elections of the Patriarch of Constantinople. The Patriarchate of Constantinople did not specify whether they had to abandon Greek passports upon obtaining Turkish citizenship [4] .
