Biography
Sergey Suvorov was born on May 5, 1918 in Moscow . After graduating from high school, he worked first in Moscow, then in Kramatorsk . In 1938, Suvorov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in the Polish campaign and the Soviet-Finnish war . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. In 1942, Suvorov graduated from the course of junior lieutenants [1] .
By September 1943, the senior lieutenant Sergey Suvorov commanded the fighter-anti-tank battery of the 59th Guards Tank Brigade of the 8th Guards Tank Corps of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper . On September 25, 1943, the Suvorov battery crossed the Dnieper near the village of Zarubintsy in the Kanevsky district of the Cherkassy region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the seizure and retention of a bridgehead on its western shore, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 3, 1944, senior lieutenant Sergei Suvorov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In 1947, in the rank of captain, Suvorov was transferred to the reserve. Lived and worked in Mineral Waters . He died suddenly on September 17, 1963 [1] , was buried in the Red Cemetery of St. Petersburg [2] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky and the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
