Biography
Vasily Suvorov was born on May 15, 1921 in the village of Belokamenka (now the Kolyshley district of the Penza region ). From an early age he lived in the village of Gorki, Tyndinsky District, Amur Region , graduated from a school there and worked at the forestry enterprise. In February 1942 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By January 1945, the corporal Vasily Suvorov was a pontoon of the 135th separate motorized pontoon-bridge battalion of the 6th pontoon-bridge brigade of the 1st Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the forcing of the Oder . On January 25 - 27, 1945, Suvorov and his comrades built bridges over the Oder near the village of Rattwitz (now Ratowice, the commune of Chernitsa , Wroclaw County , Lower Silesian Voivodeship , Poland ) and south of Steinau . After that, he continued to build other bridges, transporting military equipment [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for exemplary performance of command assignments and for showing courage and heroism in battles with German invaders, the corporal Vasily Suvorov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6067 [1] .
After the war, Suvorov was demobilized. He lived and worked in the village Novobureysky Bureysky district of the Amur region . Died July 6, 1990 , buried in Novobureysky [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Red Star and the Glory of the 3rd degree and a number of medals [1] .
The streets in Kolyshlei and Ushumune are named after Suvorov [1] .
