Ivanovo General Post Office - the main post office of the city of Ivanovo . It is located at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Pochtovaya Street at 17 Lenin Avenue [1] . The building was built from 1929 to 1931 and underwent significant restructuring in 1957.
The post office was first closed for reconstruction on January 19, 2015 [2] . February 29, 2016 the opening of the Ivanovo Post Office after reconstruction [3] .
Description
The post office is located on a natural hill on the right bank of the river. Take away , therefore, at the time of construction it was an important city dominant. The three-story building, close to the L-shaped in plan, was built in 1931 according to the design of G. S. Gurevich-Guriev in the constructivism style. Another building of the Moscow architect was preserved in Ivanovo - the building of the Industrial Bank of 1927. During construction, materials typical for architects-constructivists were used: brick and reinforced concrete [4] .
In 1957, according to the project of the architect Alexander Bodyagin [5] , the facade of the main post office was redesigned in the spirit of Stalinist architecture with elements of neoclassicism [6] . The tower was rebuilt along the axis of the facade from Lenin Avenue side: vertical ribbon windows were laid in the upper part, new tower clocks, a cornice and a balustrade with obelisks-spiers appeared. Also, corner windows were removed, balconies adjoining the tower were brought down. Brick walls were plastered and carved under the rust .
From the initial project, only large, rhythmically spaced windows and a gable roof with triangular lanterns of attic lighting remained [7] .
To the right of the main entrance to the building is a “ milestone ” marking zero kilometer .
