Maho ( Dutch: Maho Beach ) is a beach in the southwestern part of the island of Saint-Martin on the territory of the self-governing public entity Sint Maarten [1] (part of the Netherlands ). He gained fame due to the fact that the runway (Runway) of Princess Juliana airport is adjacent to it, so landing and taking off planes fly 10 - 20 meters above the heads of vacationers [2] . In this regard, the beach is especially popular among spotters [3] . The beach and the runway share two fences [4] and a narrow two-lane car lane.

The beach is about 300 meters long and 10 to 20 meters wide. There are several cafes and eateries on the beach, the most famous of which is [5] . There is a loudspeaker that warns vacationers about the arrival of another aircraft and broadcasts radio communications between airport controllers and pilots of approaching aircraft; along the beach there are boards on which the schedule of takeoffs and landings is written in chalk [6] .
The beach is completely devoid of vegetation, as it is regularly exposed to strong air currents from airliners [7] . This often causes strong and unexpected waves on the coast, which attracts windsurfers and skimboders here . Vacationers in the central part of the beach may face injury or even death, which the administration honestly warns, since the speed of air flow from the jet engines of the aircraft can reach 160 km / h [8] , but many deliberately ignore these warnings in order to experience the thrill [9 ] .
On October 16, 2008, the beach was badly damaged by , which destroyed several cafes and other structures [10] and made Maho completely rocky, blowing off all the sand, which then had to be brought here and re-filled with the beach.
In 2009-2011, an Austrian photographer rested on the Maho beach, who took black and white pictures of low-flying aircraft there. These works were included in his book “Jet liner: the complete works” [11] .
