The early years

Ed Stanzhak was born on August 15, 1921 in the city of Fort Wayne ( Indiana ), he studied there at the central school, in which he played for the local basketball team. In addition, he is one of the few basketball players of the time who never studied at the university, but immediately signed a contract with a professional team.

Professional career

He played as a light forward . In 1946, Ed Stanjack entered into an agreement with the Anderson Duffy Packers team, which played in the National Basketball League (NBL) , the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Professional Basketball League (NPL) . He later played for the Boston Celtics (NBA) team. In total, he spent 3 seasons in the NBL, two seasons in the NBA, and only three games in the NPL. In the 1948/1949 season, Stanjack, as a teammate of Ralph Johnson , Frank Brian , Bill Kloss , John Khargis and Howie Schultz , won the championship title with Anderson Duffy Packers [1] . In total, during his career in the NBL, Ed played 163 games in which he scored 1193 points (an average of 7.3 per game) [2] . During his career in the NBA, Stanzhak played 76 games in which he scored 581 points (an average of 7.6 per game), made 36 rebounds and 74 assists [3] . In addition, Ed Stanzhak as part of the “Duffy Packers” twice participated in the World Professional Basketball Tournament , becoming his bronze medalist in 1948.

Death

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy at the Pacific Theater . Ed Stanzhak died on Sunday, May 30, 2004 , at the 83rd year of his life in the city of Hidalgo ( Texas ) [4] .
