Biography
Vladimir Strelchenko was born on June 1, 1917 in Saransk . After graduating from the eight grades of the school and the school of factory apprenticeship, he worked on the railway. He later graduated from the flying club, worked at the Ulyanovsk Flight Technical School of Osoaviakhim . In November 1939, Strelchenko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In March 1941, he graduated from the Volchan Military Aviation Pilot School. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By September 1943, Major Vladimir Strelchenko was the navigator of the 948th assault air regiment of the 308th assault air division of the 3rd assault air corps of the 15th air army of the Bryansk Front . By that time, he had made 192 sorties to attack clusters of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 4, 1944, for “courage and heroism shown during assault attacks on the enemy,” Major Vladimir Strelchenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 2847 [1] .
After the war, Strelchenko continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1952, he graduated from advanced training courses for officers. In July 1957, with the rank of lieutenant colonel Strelchenko, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Bryansk , Dubna , Saratov . He died on November 25, 1981, was buried at the Yelshansky cemetery of Saratov [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals and the British Order [1] .
