According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 259.285 km 2 , of which 259.182 km 2 are land and 0.040 km 2 or 0.040% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 2,266 residents of 866 households and 621 families live in the okrug. The population density is 8.90 people per km 2. There are 1,034 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 3,90 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 98.63%, African - Americans - 0.04%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.04%, Asians - 0.22%, Hawaiians - 0.00%, representatives of other races - 1.06 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.00%. Hispanics made up 0.93% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 31.10% are children under the age of 18 years, 57.60% of households are married couples living together, 9.10% of households are single women without a spouse, 28.20% of households households are not related to families , 24.70% of households consist of one person, 11.10% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone.
