According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 1,004,170 km 2 , of which 1,004,040 km 2 are land and 0,104 km 2 or 0.010% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 31,795 residents of 12,416 households and 8,939 families live in the okrug. The population density is 32.00 people per km 2 . There are 13 999 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 14.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 97.84%, African - Americans - 0.82%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.25%, Asians - 0.17%, Hawaiians - 0.02%, representatives of other races - 0.08 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.82%. Hispanics accounted for 0.57% of the population, regardless of race .

Of the total number of households , 34.40% are children under the age of 18, 54.30% of households are married couples living together, 13.60% of households are single women without a spouse, 28.00% of households households are not related to families , 25.70% of households consist of one person, 10.60% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.51 people and the average family size is 3.01 people.

The age structure of the district: 26.20% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 23.20% from 45 to 64, and 23.20% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 92.90 males . For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.70 males .
