James Friedrich Ludolf Hobrecht ( German: James Friedrich Ludolf Hobrecht ; December 31, 1825 , Memel - September 8, 1902 , Berlin ) is a German urban engineer.

Biography
James Hobrecht was born on December 31, 1825 in Memel. He graduated from the Academy of Architecture , then worked on the construction of railways; in 1856-1861 he developed a plan for the development of Berlin and its environs, which received his name.
In 1862-1869, as a member of the city council for the construction of Stettin, he designed the first hydraulic engineering structure in the city and developed a project for the city sewer system, which was implemented in the last quarter of the 19th century. Hobrecht was also the author of the development concept for the central streets of Stettin .
In 1875-1894 he carried out the design and construction of sewers in Berlin, in 1887 he worked in Japan , preparing designs for water supply and sewage systems for Tokyo , and in 1892 and 1893 he did the same in Cairo and Alexandria.
He wrote several scientific works on construction, including: “Beiträge zur Beurteilung des gegenwärtigen Standes der Kanalisations und Berieselungsfrage” (1883), “Die Kanalisation von Berlin” (2nd edition, 1887) and so on.
James Friedrich Ludolf Hobrecht died on September 8, 1902 in the city of Berlin.
