History
The village of Sklyaevo dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. The name of the village arose on behalf of Sklyaev Fedosey , an outstanding Russian shipbuilder [5] . For special services to the Fatherland, Tsar Peter I awarded his comrade-in-arms and his associate, Captain-Commander F. M. Sklyaev, ascribing to him peasants from s. Starozhivotinogo (107 souls male sex) and having granted the land beyond the Don, on which five settlements were subsequently formed - villages inhabited by serf peasants, and named after the owner: Sklyaevo 1st, Sklyaevo 2nd, etc. .. After the death of Fedosey Sklyaev, his estate was inherited by the daughter of Natalia, and then was sold.
It is known that subsequently a significant part of the land here belonged to representatives of an ancient noble family - the landowners Venevitinov , so, in the beginning. XX century the famous Russian historian and writer M. A. Venevitinov owned 2180 dess. land (near the village of Gnezdilovo and the village of Olkhovatka). According to some sources, by the beginning of the twentieth century. part of the land was owned by several more people, namely: hereditary noblemen of the Voronezh province - landowners Strizhevsky Mikhail Vasilievich, Leonid Mikhailovich and Grigory Leonidovich, as well as Chebysheva Maria Leonidovna, who had 4 estates here.
In Sklyaev, there was a estate of the Nobles of the Strizhevsky. A reminder of it is the park, orchard, and the building of a two-story rural school that opened its doors in 1913, built at the expense of the last in the history of the village of its owner - current state adviser, Kazan Governor M.V. Strizhevsky (1854- 1913) [6] .
Statistical publication - “Lists of populated places of the Russian Empire [Issue. 9]: Voronezh province: ... according to the information of 1859 ”- reports the following:“ Sklyaevo, owner's village ; Voronezh province., Zemlyansky district, Third Mill; at the Vereyka river; from the district center 19 miles, from the apartment building 20 miles; courtyards 51, male sex 296 people., female 261 people. " [7] .
Residents of the village of Sklyaevo (including the village of Sklyaevo 1st, the village of Sklyaevo 2nd and others) - Orthodox Christians , belonged to the parish of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (since 1776) - the Orthodox church of the Voronezh diocese, located in the village of Lower Vereyka (Shevyrevo identity) of the Zemlyansky district of the Voronezh province [8] .
World War II
In early July 1942, the village was occupied by Nazi troops. Some of its residents managed to escape to nearby s. Sivertsevo , the rest were forcibly stolen to Germany .
Three months later, on October 11, 1942, after exhausting, bloody battles that lasted about two months - from August 16 to October 11, with the help of the 150th separate tank brigade [9] and other military units of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front, the village of Sklyaevo, and other settlements adjacent to it were liberated by Soviet troops. The Nazi invaders were driven out at the cost of many human lives; the consequences of fierce battles were extremely devastating [10] : in Sklyaev, and in neighboring villages, not a single surviving housing construction remained. After the war, Sklyaevo revived, the returning villagers rebuilt it anew.
In memory of the Great Patriotic War , a memorial complex was built in the village, which includes a monument and a mass grave . The names of 2118 people buried in the mass grave of the Red Army soldiers who died on the local battlefields are listed on the memorial plaques of the monument [11] .
