Career
Club
He became a player in the Partizan football school at age 12, and since 1968 he began playing for the main squad. He quickly became the main player in the attacking line and one of the team's most respected players. Twice became the champion of Yugoslavia : in the seasons 1975/76 and 1977/78.
In July 1978 he moved to the French club " Bordeaux ", played for which in the championship 1978/79 36 matches and scored 8 goals. After the only season in France, he returned to Partizan, with whom he became the champion for the third time - in the 1982/83 season.
In June 1984, he completed his playing career and was appointed sports director of Partizan. In total, he played 791 matches for Partizan and scored 339 goals, of which 396 matches, 112 goals in the first league of the Yugoslav championship [2] .
Team
He played for the youth (1967-1968, 11 matches, 4 goals) and youth (1969-1974, 12 matches, 3 goals) national teams. For the first team of Yugoslavia debuted on September 20, 1972 in a match against the Italian team . The Yugoslavs lost with the score 1: 3, the only goal scored by Vukotich [1] .
Vukotich spent four matches in the qualifying tournament of the European Championship in 1976 , scored two goals: in the group stage match with the Norwegian national team in Belgrade (3: 1) and the quarterfinal against the national team of Wales in Zagreb (2: 0) [3] . In the final tournament, in which the Yugoslavs lost both matches and took the last, fourth place, Vukotich did not play.
The last match for the national team was played on October 4, 1978 in the 1980 European Championship qualifying match ; in Zagreb, the Yugoslav national team lost to the Spanish national team (1: 2). In total, he spent 14 matches for the national team and scored 4 goals [3] .
Coaching
He began his coaching career at Partizan in 1988. He later coached Greek and Cypriot clubs. Heading the Cypriot Ethnicos , he took fourth place in the championship - the highest in the history of the club. During the qualifying tournament of the World Cup in 2002, he was part of the coaching staff of the Yugoslav national team , with which he could not reach the final tournament. After that, he headed the first team of Cyprus for three years. In the qualifying tournament of the 2004 European Championship, Cypriots took fourth place in the group, which led to the beginning of criticism of the work of Vukotich. The unsuccessful start of the qualification of the 2006 World Cup , when after five matches the Cyprus team scored just one point in the match against the Faroe Islands team , led to the resignation of Vukotich.
