List of BRICS Leaders

This is a list of state or government leaders of the BRICS member countries who have represented their countries at each BRICS summit since the group was established in 2009 . The group consists of five countries: Brazil , Russia , India , China and South Africa . BRICS holds an annual summit that is attended by all state or government leaders. Each year, heads of government take turns taking over as chairman, whose job it is to approve the agenda. Also, the country represented by the chairman hosts the organization’s summit in the same year.

The group was originally created as BRIC ( Brazil , Russia , India , China ). In the third year of the group's existence (in 2011 ), South Africa joined it, thereby forming the BRICS .

The data presented in the list are sorted in the order of the BRICS summits.
