House Wolfhound [1] ( lat. Lycodon aulicus ) is a species of snake family.

The total length reaches 51 cm. Sexual dimorphism is observed - females are larger than males. The head is small, pointed, wide. The eyes are small, the pupils are rounded. The body is slim. The color is monophonic - brown or gray-brown. White or yellowish transverse stripes can pass along the body.
He likes to settle near human habitation, is constantly found in residential and household buildings, not excluding the business districts of large cities (hence the name). This is a rather lively and moving snake, it climbs well on a vertical surface. Spends the day in various cracks, crevices, under the floor or under the roof, and goes hunting at night. It feeds on geckos, other lizards, amphibians.
It has an interesting means of protection, taking advantage of the resemblance to a very poisonous snake - the Indian krait .
This is an egg laying snake. The female lays 4-11 eggs.
Lives in Pakistan, India, Nepal , Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, on the island of Sri Lanka . Sometimes found in the Chinese province of Yunnan . It was specially brought to the island of Mauritius .
