The total length ranges from 80 cm to 1.2 m, weight up to 2 kg. Head of moderate size, tapering at the end. Large eyes with vertical pupils. The body is narrow and long. The tail is long, tenacious.
The color of the back ranges from light brown to gray with brown spots. On the head there is a dark brown or black spot. A dark brown streak passes from the muzzle through the eyes. Creamy belly with brown spots.
He loves woodland, shrubbery. Spends all his life in the trees. Active at night. It feeds on lizards, geckos, mice, birds. Cases of cannibalism are known.
This is an egg laying snake. The female lays 3-15 eggs in February-April.
The poison is weak and not dangerous to humans. [2]
It lives on the island of Sri Lanka , in the states of India: Assam, Orissa, Maharashtra.
