Biography

Born in the family of the captain of a hydrographic ship. In 1964 he graduated from a school in Pevek with a gold medal and entered the Faculty of History of Leningrad State University , where his teachers were professors A.L. Shapiro , V.V. Mavrodin , S.N. Valk and others.

In 1965-1969 he was a fighter, brigadier, detachment commander, commander of the district student construction detachment in Kazakhstan and the Leningrad Region. Scientific activity

In the doctoral dissertation of A. Ya. Degtyarev, based on an analysis of the characteristics of more than 100,000 rural settlements of medieval Russia, extracted from scribe and census books , acts of various kinds, a new concept was developed for the evolution of rural settlement in the Russian state from ancient times to the eve of Peter's reforms .

Socially significant is the activity of a scientist on the popularization of domestic history.
