Biography
He headed and taught at the Dungan school in Karakunuz (later Masanchin [1] in the Kuradaysky district of the Dzhambul region ). He had the rank of provincial secretary. He perfectly knew the Chinese language, knew the Turkic languages.
In the expedition of 1893-1895, in addition to translations, Ladygin's duties included botanical and entomological fees. As a rule, he remained on the main bivouac of the expedition and constantly kept a meteorological diary.
Before the 1899 expedition, Ladygin was ordered to purchase camels and supplies in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Katon-Karagai . In the summer of 1899, having separated from the main detachment of the expedition, together with Lieutenant Kaznakov, he examined the upper reaches of the Kobdo River and the basin of Lake Dain-nur. He participated in the shooting of the lakes Alyk-nor and Oringnor (or Lake Russky according to Przhevalsky), the source of Juan-he . After returning from the expedition, as a member of the Russian Geographical Society, he collaborated with Semenov-Tien-Shansky, Potanin , Pozdeev, Severtsev-Polilov. Collected information on European trade in Central Asia.
Since 1902, the senior commercial agent of the CER in Harbin [2] . Examined Manchuria and Korea. He worked on the CER until 1920 [3] .
