Aircraft
An-22 with serial number 03340501 and serial number 05-01 was launched by the Tashkent Aviation Plant in 1973 and then transferred to the Ministry of Defense . This was the first “Antey” of the 5th series, starting from which a number of design improvements were made, including in the fuel system, control, power supply and many others. The aircraft received registration number CCCP-09318 and at the time of the crash belonged to the 556th military transport aviation regiment (based on Seshcha airfield in the Bryansk region ) [1] .
Crew
The crew had the following composition [2] :
- The commander of the ship is Major V. A. Efremov (deputy. To-ae);
- Navigator of the ship - Major V. A. Parshin (navigator of the regiment);
- Assistant to the commander of the ship - Captain V. A. Archibasov;
- Senior onboard technician of the ship - Captain A. S. Kryuchkov;
- Senior onboard technician for AO - st. lieutenant N.I. Scherbak;
- Senior on-board technician in DO - Captain S. G. Grigoriev;
- Senior air radio operator - ensign I. I. Kulakov;
- ANTK experimental engineer - O. Yu. Zemtsov.
Holocaust
The aircraft performed an experimental flight, during which the vibration voltage of the control rods was measured. The flight was performed at an altitude of 4000 meters according to the "Big Box" scheme ( flying in a circle ). Three turns have already been made when commander Efremov at a speed of 380 km / h deflected the rudder to the right. But he did it at an angle of not 17 °, as on assignment, but 23 °, while the ailerons remained in a neutral position. Such a maneuver led to the fact that Antei switched to steep sliding mode with a decrease. In order to get out of the slip, the pilot had to give the helm “away from me”, and then take the car out of the bank, and then, upon reaching the required speed, transfer the car to horizontal flight. But instead, Efremov mistakenly pulled the helm “towards himself”, which in this situation led to the plane reaching supercritical angles of attack, switching to stall mode. Antey began to dive and lost 3,400 meters of altitude, before being elevated to a horizontal flight at an altitude of 500-600 meters. However, the commander got out of the dive so abruptly that there was an overload of 4 units that turned out to be higher than the permissible one, as a result, the destruction of the right wing plane began. Destroying in the air, the plane crashed into the ground near Dubrovka and exploded, while all eight people on board died [2] .
Reasons
The cause of the disaster was called the unsatisfactory organization of the test flight, since the flight was carried out by a crew that was not prepared for this flight [2] .
