Gyrophaena orientalis (Latin) is a species of beetles-stafilinid of the genus Gyrophaena from the tribe Athetini (subfamily Aleocharinae ). Eurasia [1] [2] .

Palaearctic: Hungary , Latvia , Russia (including Siberia ), Romania , Ukraine , Finland , Sweden [1] [3] [4] [5] .
Description
Small short-winged beetles. Body length from 2.3 to 2.5 mm, oval shape, dorso-ventrally oblate. Antennal length 0.64 - 0.66 mm, maximum head width - 0.44 - 0.48 mm (with eyes), maximum pronotum width - 0.48 - 0.54 mm, pronotum length - 0.33 - 0, 38 mm. Length of elytra - 0.36 - 0.39. Coloring is yellowish-brown (head and pronotum darker, elytra is lighter, yellowish-brown; legs and antennae are yellow). The larvae and adult beetles feed on mushrooms and tinder (obligate mycophagi) in which they live, feed and breed, lay eggs. Spores, basidia, and mycelium hyphae are eaten [1] . The head is wide, strongly transverse. Eyes are relatively large, protruding (head narrowed behind eyes). The tongue is long and narrow. Labial palpi 2-segmented. Pronotum already elytra. The hind paws are 5-segmented, and the fore and middle paws consist of 4 segments (paw formula: 4-5-5) [6] .
