Jiaocheng ( Ch . The name means “city at the confluence of rivers,” and is due to the fact that the county’s administrative center was originally located at the confluence of the Fenhe and Kunhe rivers (now these places are part of Gujiao County).

History
Jiaocheng County was created under the Sui Empire in 596.
In 1949, the Fengyang Special Region (汾阳 专区) was formed, and Jiaocheng County became part of it. In 1951, the Fengyang Special District was disbanded, and the county became part of the Yuqi Special Region (榆次 专区). In 1958, the northern part of the county was allocated to the Gujiao Mining and Industrial District, and the county itself was annexed to Fengyang County. In 1959, the county was recreated, becoming part of the Jinzhong Special District (晋中 专区). In 1967, Jinzhong Special District was renamed Jinzhong County (晋中 地区)
In 1971, Luiliang County (吕梁 地区) was formed, and the county became part of it.
According to the Decree of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China of October 23, 2003, since 2004, Luiliang County was disbanded, and instead of it, the Luiliang City District was formed.
