Rahman Rezai ( Pers. رحمان رضايی , February 20, 1975 , Nur ) is a former Iranian footballer who played as a defender. He currently works as a youth coach at the Paykan Iranian club.

Club career
Rahman Rezai was seen as a talented footballer by Iranian coach Nasser Hajazi . Rezai played for the Zob Ahan club from Isfahan for five seasons. As a result of a successful game at the club level and successful performances for the Iranian national team, Rahman Rezai moved to the Italian “ Perugia ” in 2001 for € 150,000 euros [1] , and then to “ Messina ”.
Rahman Rezai has made one of the most successful Asian defender careers in Europe. [2] In the 2003/2004 season, he helped Messina make it to Serie A. [3] The following season, he spent the largest number of matches in the team, entering 36 matches of the 2004/05 championship , in which Messina finished in the middle of the table. [2] After 3 successful seasons as part of Messina, in August 2006 Rezai transferred to another Serie A club: Livorno .
In January 2006, Rezai received Italian citizenship by marrying Helian Hashemi, an Italian of Iranian descent. [3]
On August 10, 2009, Rezai signed a one-year contract worth $ 700 thousand dollars with the Qatari club Al-Ahly . [4] In 2010, he moved to Shahin Bushir , and six months later, to Paykan . On July 4, 2012, Rezai announced the retirement of a football player.

International Career
Rahman Rezai made his debut with Iran in July 2001 in a match against the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina . Rezai participated in the 2004 Asian and Asian Football Cups .
Rezai joined the Iranian national team for the 2006 World Cup . Of the 3 matches of Iran at the tournament, Rezai spent without substitutions and cards, leaving the starting lineup, all three: group tournament games against the national teams of Mexico , Portugal and Angola [5] .
