Before joining the KGB
After graduating from the Novocherkassk Polytechnic Institute in 1962, he worked as an engineer-technologist, senior master of the Machine-Building Plant named after the 40th anniversary of October in Balashikha.
In the state security organs
In the state security bodies since 1968. He graduated from biennial training courses for senior staff with knowledge of foreign languages at the KGB Higher School of Management and from 1970 worked in the KGB office in Moscow and the Moscow region: officer, senior officer, department head, deputy head of department, from 1978. - Head of the 2nd Service Department (counterintelligence), since 1982 - Head of the 4th Service (transport), since 1982 - Head of the 6th Service (industry), in 1984 he participated in the investigation of the Uzbek case . Then he held the posts:
Head of the KGB Department for the Perm Region (August 1985 - December 1988);
Senior Inspector of the Inspectorate Directorate of the KGB of the USSR (1988–1990);
Deputy Head of the Directorate of the "OP" of the KGB of the USSR (December 1990 - August 1991);
1st Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR (August 29 - December 3, 1991) [1] [2] , member of the State Committee for Investigation of the Activities of the KGB;
From November 28, 1991 - member of the State Commission for the reorganization of state security organs [3] .
1st Deputy Chairman of the IBU of the USSR (from December 13, 1991) [4] ;
After the collapse of the USSR - 1st Deputy Minister of Security of the RSFSR (January 24 - June 6, 1992 [5] [6] ), dismissed for health reasons June 9, 1992. In 1993, he was reinstated in the service, a representative of the RSFSR IB - FSK RF in Germany.
Post-Soviet period
Since 1994 - an officer of the current reserve of the FGC - FSB of Russia, he worked through the Directorate of Economic Security .
In 1996–1998, he worked as the head of the Security Service of Bank Vozrozhdenie (Moscow) ;
He died on February 5, 2009. He was buried on February 9 at Troyekurovsky cemetery .
