Kaikuzi

Kaykusi or Kayikuzi is a character in the creation of the Ganda myth. He is the son of Gulu . Its name translates as "excavator." He is responsible for trying to rid the earth of Valumba, the deity of death and disease.

Legend

After mating, Kintu returns to Earth with his wife Nambi. They have children born. However, in connection with the traditions of Ganda, Valumbe (the deity of death), as the brother of Nambi, claims one child Nambi, wanting to take him into property. The quintu refuses him and Valumbe begins to kill one Nambi child every day. Nambi prays to his father and he sends Kaikuzi to help. Kaikuzi collides with Valumbe and loses the match and hides underground. Then Kaikuzi begins to dig holes to find Valumbe under the Earth. He is credited with creating long underground tunnels in Uganda. Then Kaykusi asks for two days of silence so that Valumbe, finding silence, comes out on the ground to see what happened. And so it happened. Valunda came out in a place called Tanda. But when they saw the terrible face of Valumba, the children cried out and Valumbe immediately disappeared underground again. Kintu refuses the services of Kaikuzi and he goes back to heaven, explaining the situation to Gulu. Hearing the story, Gulu allows Valumba to remain on the ground. So on earth appeared death according to the ideas of the ganda.
