Biography
Peter Solovyov was born on February 14, 1922 in the village of Milavino (now the Andreapolsky District of the Tver Region ). He graduated from high school. In 1940, Solovyov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Leningrad Artillery School. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. In the battles he was wounded twice and contused two more times [1] .
By April 1945, Captain Pyotr Solovyov commanded the battalion of the 798th Artillery Regiment of the 265th Infantry Division of the 3rd Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the Berlin operation . On April 28, 1945, the Solovyov Division successfully repulsed four German counterattacks. During the reflection of the fifth counterattack, Solovyov himself went up to one of the guns and destroyed 4 heavy self-propelled guns of the enemy, was wounded, but continued to fire [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 31, 1945, for "skilful command of the division, courage and heroism shown during the storming of Berlin," Captain Peter Solovyov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6830 [1 ] .
After the end of the war, Solovyov continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1955, he graduated from the F. Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Academy . In 1975, as a colonel, Solovyov was dismissed. Lived and worked in Minsk . He died in 1998 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and World War 1 st degree, three orders of the Red Star , a number of medals and foreign awards [1] .
In honor of Solovyov, a street was named in Andreapol [1] .
