Victoria Bay (Veydoliyagan [1] ) is a natural harbor located between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon . The depth of the water at the harbor, the security of the waters and the strategic location on the South China Sea played an important role in the gradual establishment of a British colony in Hong Kong and its subsequent development as a center of trade [2] . Sometimes this harbor is called the "pearl of the East" [3] .

Throughout its history, many land reclamation projects have been undertaken in relation to the harbor, carried out on both banks, many of which caused controversy in subsequent years. The consequences of land reclamation was the emergence of environmental problems - the deterioration of water quality and the destruction of natural resources. In addition, it was suggested that the benefits of land reclamation could be offset by the consequences of reducing the width of the harbor, which would affect the number of vessels passing through the port of Hong Kong. Nevertheless, Victoria Bay still retains its important role as a port, hosting thousands of international vessels annually.
Long known for its scenic views, the harbor is Hong Kong's main tourist attraction. Located in the middle of dense urban development in this area, the harbor is the site of annual fireworks, and its promenades are popular places for tourists and locals to visit.
