Biography
Arnulf was born on July 6, 1852 in Munich . He was the third son, and the fourth, youngest child in the family of the Bavarian prince Luitpold and his wife Augusta Ferdinand of Austria . He had older brothers Ludwig and Leopold , as well as sister Teresa .
Like Leopold, he began to serve in the Bavarian army. In July 1881 he led the Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment of the Life Guard. From 1884 - major general, from 1887 - lieutenant general. In 1890 he was promoted to the rank of infantry general.
At the age of 29, he married the Princess of Liechtenstein Theresa (1850-1937), who was two years older than the groom. The wedding took place on April 12, 1882 in Vienna . Two years later, the spouses had their only son:
- Henry (1884-1916) - died in Romania during the First World War, where he fought as part of the Alpine Corps; He was not married, had an illegitimate son.
He died in Venice at the age of 55. He was buried at the Theaterkirche in Munich .
