Biography

Born on June 19, 1901 in the village of Ianeti of the Samtredi District of the Republic of Georgia in a peasant family. Georgian.

At the age of 14, he came to the railway as a student of a mechanic at a locomotive depot at Tiflis station. Labor biography from work as an assistant locksmith, then he himself worked as a mechanic to repair steam locomotives. In 1922-1924 he served in the Red Army .

Returning to his home depot, four years repaired steam locomotives. From 1928 he worked as an assistant driver, from 1932 - a locomotive driver. I drove freight trains in the direction of Baku , Samtredia and Leninakan.

From the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Kokhreidze led military echelons to the front. Oil routes went from Baku to Kizlyar, and from there along the new building to Astrakhan, and then to Saratov to front-line oil depots and for defense plants of the Urals and Trans-Urals. Kokhreidze did not run trains with tanks to destinations, but he passed on his trains, like a baton, to the operators of the Azerbaijan and Ordzhonikidze railways.

At the beginning of the war, the Luninets Shalva Kokhreidze, together with his brigade, undertook to bring the locomotive to 120 thousand kilometers. Mileage brought up to 152 thousand kilometers, saving 70 tons of fuel, successfully ensuring the transport of important goods for the front and the national economy. From turning to turning his locomotive ran 152 thousand 226 kilometers. No one in Transcaucasia could boast of such a record. In July 1942, on the proposal of the head of the Transcaucasian Road, G. S. Kiknadze was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 5, 1943 "for special merits in providing transportation for the front and the national economy and outstanding achievements in rebuilding the railway economy in difficult conditions of wartime" Kokhreidze Shalva Fedorovich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the medal " Hammer and sickle".

In 1943, an excellent train driver and honorary railroad worker Shalva Kokhreidze was appointed engineer-instructor and disinterestedly transferred to young people his experience in caring for a steam train, which allowed him to increase the mileage of the locomotive. He served as a trainer instructor until his retirement in the late 1950s.

After the war, he continued to work in his depot. In 1946 and 1950 he was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR . In July 1951 he was awarded the Second Order of Lenin . Soon Shalva Kokhreidze became a personal pensioner of union importance. He lived in the capital of Georgia , Tbilisi. He died on January 1, 1961.

He was awarded two Orders of Lenin , the Order of the Red Banner of Labor , medals, including the For Defense of the Caucasus.
