Club career

Nielsen began his career at the Tromsø club. In 1989, Roger moved to the Viking . With the new team, he won the Norwegian Cup in 1991. In 1993, Nalsen, on loan, played for the German Cologne . On November 14, in his match against Bayer 04 , he made his debut in the Bundesliga . After the season ended in Norway, Roger signed an agreement with the English Sheffield United . The amount of transfer amounted to 550 thousand pounds. On November 6, in a duel against Norwich City , Nielsen made his debut in the Premier League . At the end of the season, the club flew to the Championship and Roger tried to help the club return to the elite for another four and a half years.

In March 1999, as a free agent, Nielsen moved to Tottenham Hotspur . After playing the season with the spurs, he signed an agreement with the Austrian club HAK . Nielsen helped the new team win the national cup . At the end of the year, he left Austria and played the season for the Swedish Molde . In 2003, Roger ended his career at Brune .

In 1989, Nielsen played at the Youth World Championships in Saudi Arabia as part of the Norwegian youth team .
