Biography

After graduating from grade 7, he worked on a collective farm.

In the Red Army in 1925-1927 and from September 1943. At the front in World War II from October 1943. He fought as part of the South, 4th Ukrainian, 1st and 2nd Baltic Fronts. He liberated Crimea, Belarus, the Baltic states.

The machine gunner of the 997th rifle regiment of the 263rd rifle division of the 51st army of the 4th Ukrainian front, the Red Army Shatsky, during the liberation of Sevastopol on May 7, 1944, participated in an assault on a height of 254.2 at the approaches to the city, where the enemy organized a fortified strong point. He was the first in the company to attack and with well-aimed automatic fire provided a successful attack unit. At the beginning of the offensive, he destroyed two enemy machine-gun points, thereby ensuring the capture of the first enemy trench. While in the trench, the Shatsky, skillfully using grenades, cleared the way for his fighters. Soon, the advanced detachments of the division reached the second line of enemy fortifications and entrenched there. During the battle, they captured four bunkers and three bunkers, destroyed about a hundred opponents. Shatskikh personally destroyed nine enemy soldiers.

During May 8 and 9, the Red Army man Shatsky participated in battles to destroy enemy strongholds, the first to break into enemy trenches near the village of Inkerman. In street battles in Sevastopol near the Count's wharf, he destroyed thirteen opponents and captured twelve light machine guns. He was wounded in battle, but refused to leave the battlefield.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945 for courage, bravery and heroism, the Red Army soldier Shatsky Vasily Andreyevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .

After the war, demobilized. He lived in the village of Bogdanovka, Pavlogradsky district, Dnipropetrovsk region . He worked on a collective farm.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin , medals.

He died on April 1, 1956.
