Biography
Born on February 5, 1911 in the village of Perebor now in the Sobinsky district of the Vladimir region . In 1925 he graduated from the seven-year school, in 1928 - the school of FZU. He worked as a foreman at the Banking Department at the Avangard spinning mill, and in 1931-1933 he worked as a turner at the Central Institute of Aviation Motors in Moscow .
In the army since August 1933. Until December 1933 he studied at the Yeisk Military Aviation School of Marine Pilots. In 1934 he graduated from the Lugansk Military Aviation Pilot School. He served in the combat units of the Air Force.
Member of the Great Patriotic War from June 22, 1941 as a flight commander of the 89th fighter aviation regiment. Not having time to complete a single sortie, on June 27, 1941 A.V. Shibaev was sent to the 11th reserve aviation regiment, where he retrained for the LaGG-3 fighter. In August 1941 he was sent to the 5th reserve aviation regiment, where he underwent retraining for the Il-2 attack aircraft.
Since September 18, 1941, again at the front, as a flight commander of the 431st assault aviation regiment. Participated in defensive battles in the region of Poltava. In its sixth sortie on September 23, 1941, the Me-109 was shot down by an enemy fighter and was seriously wounded. Until March 1942, he was cured in the rear hospital.
Since May 1942, he was again at the front as deputy commander of an air squadron of the 431st assault aviation regiment. He participated in the battle of Kharkov and the Battle of Stalingrad . He made 46 sorties. On August 23, 1942, the regiment was completely bloodless and brought to the rear for reformation, and A.V. Shibaev was sent to the 12th reserve aviation regiment.
Since October 1942 - Head of the Air Rifle Service of the 622th Assault Aviation Regiment. On November 4, 1942, the regiment arrived at the Stalingrad Front , but due to the opening wound of the left forearm, A.V. Shibaev was not allowed to fly. Only in January 1943 did he still obtain permission to carry out combat sorties. He fought on the Stalingrad, South and North Caucasus fronts, in the Separate Primorye Army, on the 4th Ukrainian Front . He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad , the liberation of the Kuban, Taman, Crimea and Sevastopol. In May 1943 he was appointed assistant regiment commander for the air and rifle service. Since June 1944, he fought on the 2nd Baltic Front . He participated in the liberation of the Baltic states, the blockade and liquidation of the Kurland enemy grouping. By February 1945, made 99 sorties on the Il-2 attack aircraft.
For courage and heroism shown in the battles, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, Major Shibaev Alexei Vasilyevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
After the war, he continued to serve in the combat units of the Air Force. He died on February 19, 1946. He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow .

Memory
- His name is given to a street in the city of Sobinka, Vladimir Region .
- A memorial plaque in memory of Shibaev was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society on the building of school number 2 in Sobinka, where he studied.
