Biography

Born on February 11, 1920 in the village of Likhovka (now the Pyatikhat district of the Dnipropetrovsk region). Ukrainian.

He graduated from a junior high school and a factory apprenticeship school. He worked as an electric crane operator at the Dzerzhinsky plant in Dneprodzerzhinsk. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1947.

In the Red Army since August 1941. In the army since December 1941. He fought as part of the Bryansk, Central, Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian fronts. He participated in the Voronezh-Voroshilovgrad defensive, Voronezh-Kastornen offensive operations, the Battle of Kursk, the Oryol and Chernihiv-Pripyat offensive operations.

The 6th artillery regiment of the 74th infantry division of the 13th Army of the Central Front in September 1943, advancing to the Dnieper, twice crossed the Desna River. Senior radio telegraph staff battery junior sergeant Soldatenko participated in battles to seize bridgeheads, maintained contact with the regiment's divisions with rifle units.

On September 21, 1943, the division went to the Dnieper and the next day began forcing it near the village of Komarin. Soldatenko, having received the order to establish contact with one of the regiments on the bridgehead, crossed the river. All the time he was in the battle formations of the infantry, transmitting data to the artillery division, which caused significant damage to the enemy in manpower and equipment. When the connection was broken, the junior sergeant Soldatenko managed to restore it under enemy fire. Participated in repelling enemy counterattacks.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for courage, bravery and heroism, Junior Sergeant Soldatenko Vasily Grigoryevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .

Later he participated in the battles to liberate the Right-Bank Ukraine and Poland .

In 1947, V. G. Soldatenko graduated from the Leningrad Military School of Communications, in 1956 - the Military Academy of Communications. He served in the Central Group of Forces, the Leningrad and Belarusian military districts. Since 1969, Lieutenant Colonel Soldatenko is in stock. He lived in Minsk.

He was awarded the orders of Lenin , World War 1 degree, Red Star , the medal "For Military Merit", and other medals.

He died on June 18, 1985. In the city of Dneprodzerzhinsk, a memorial plaque was installed in front of the entrance to the metallurgical plant.
