Biography

Born on June 6, 1917 in the village of Grechukhi, Rogachev district, Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. He graduated from 7 classes. He worked at a brick factory in Minsk, at a forestry plant in Bobruisk.

In 1938 he was drafted into the Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. At the front in World War II since July 1942. Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1943. By the fall of 1943, Lieutenant Strenakov was the platoon commander of the 642nd cannon artillery regiment of the 24th cannon artillery brigade. He particularly distinguished himself in battles on the Dnieper.

On October 12, 1943, Lieutenant Strenakov, at the head of a group of scouts under enemy fire, crossed the Dnieper. Having advanced to the front line, he organized reconnaissance of enemy firepower. As a result of the observation, he located the battery of large-caliber guns, which was suppressed. Subsequently, he participated in repulsing numerous enemy counterattacks on the bridgehead in the Loyevsky district of the Gomel region .

On October 13, in the area of ​​the village of Glushets, when the enemy launched a counterattack with the support of tanks and artillery, Lieutenant Strenakov transmitted accurate target designations to his battery, which helped to repel the counterattack. On October 15, in a battle for the village of Staraya Lutava, participating in repulsing an enemy counterattack, burst together with infantrymen in enemy defenses and destroyed more than 10 opponents from personal weapons and grenades. On October 21, in battles for the village of Novaya Lutava, being in the battle formations of the infantry, he replaced the wounded company commander, led the fighters into the attack and burst into the village. In battle, he personally destroyed several enemy soldiers. He was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield, until the infantry was fixed on a busy line.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 24, 1943, for the courage and heroism shown during crossing the Dnieper and holding the bridgehead, Lieutenant Strenakov Prokof Averyanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin (No. 16693) and the Golden Star medal (No. 2995).

After the war he continued to serve in the army. In 1951 he graduated from the Higher Officer Artillery School. Since 1958, Major P. A. Strenakov is in stock. He lived in the city of Tashkent. He worked at the Tashkentkabel factory. He died on October 12, 1961.
