Biography
Born on December 1, 1918 in the village of Kalmazovo, now Olshansky district, Kirovograd region . Ukrainian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1943. He graduated from 10 classes. He worked on a collective farm.
In the Red Army since 1938. At the front in World War II since August 1941. Member of the defense of Novorossiysk.
The commander of the mortar platoon of the 1339th Infantry Regiment of the 318th Infantry Division of the 18th Army of the North Caucasus Front, Lieutenant Topolnikov distinguished himself in a landing operation on the Kerch Peninsula in November 1943 in the vicinity of the village of Eltigen.
On November 1, he, as part of the battalion of captain P.K. Zhukov, was one of the first to land ashore and quickly set up mortars. In the first minutes of the battle, the platoon destroyed up to ten enemy firing points and more companies of German soldiers than contributed to the seizure of the bridgehead.
The enemy pulled up tanks and artillery. The platoon of Lieutenant Topolnikov reflected the attacks of opponents with mortar fire, and when the shells and mines ran out, they joined the infantry with small arms. Topolnikov personally participated in hand-to-hand combat, in which he destroyed several German soldiers and officers. He was wounded, but did not leave the battle and continued to command the unit.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1943, for the courage, bravery and heroism, Lieutenant Topolnikov Nikolai Nikitich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
Since 1946, captain N.N. Topolnikov is in stock. He lived in an urban-type settlement Podgorodnaya in the Pervomaisky district of the Nikolaev region. He worked in railway transport as a foreman of a production site. He died on April 21, 1998. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Podgorodnaya.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, and medals.
