History
The reserve was founded by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of February 13, 89, No. 53, by reorganizing the natural monument, founded in 1988. The reserve was created to preserve the unique landscape in the valley of the Western Bulganak River in its natural state.
Description
The reserve is located in the valley of the Western Bulganak River in the west of the Outer Ridge of the Crimean Mountains, south of the villages of Pozharskoe and Vodnoe .
Currently, festivals and various cultural events organized by the Pozharsky Village Council are held on the territory of the nature monument.
The nearest settlements are Pozharskoye and Vodnoye villages, the city is Simferopol .
Nature
The territory of the reserve covers the so-called Weeping Rock - a cliff of bedrock (about 8 meters high stretching along the slope for 110-120 meters) in the valley of the Western Bulganak River (on the left bank of the river), where water oozes through karst cracks. The rock is composed of sandstones and limestones, overgrown with mosses and lichens. A small lake formed at the cliff. The reserve also includes a forest tract where such species as plane tree, juniper, barberry, and a section of the virgin steppe grow.
