In the NHL draft of 2001, he was selected in the 4th round under the general 99 number by the Ottawa Senators team, played for the club from the Canadian capital from 2003 to 2008. In the 2008/09 season, he was a player at HC Atlant (Moscow Region).
Then he played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Ducks , for the Chicago Blackhawks and again for the Philadelphia Flyers. In the 2012/13 season with Corey Crawford, he composed the Chicago goalkeeper duo (Crawford had 30 regular season matches, and Emery had 21 matches); in the winning playoffs, only Crawford defended the goal.
Ray Emery died July 15, 2018 at the age of 35, drowning in Lake Ontario near the city of Hamilton, where he was born. [3]
