Title
Most likely, it comes from the surname of one of the first settlers (Martin Pikov) - service people on the Simbirsk serif line , who, after the abolition, became a state peasant. The second word in the old name "cassocks" is from a river flowing through wetlands. "Peak Cassocks", that is, Pikovy yards on the river Ryas. In the list of populated areas of Ranenburgsky Uyezd for 1862 it is designated as the village of Pikolskoye, and on the map of Schubert at the end of the 19th century as Peak Cassocks [2] [3] .
Geography
The area where the village is located is called Ryas field. These places are rich in large and small streams and rivers, with “rusty” water flowing out of the marshes, containing particles of iron ore. The village is located on the right bank of one of these rivers, Yagodnaya Ryas , 14 km from the district center.
History
Initially, the settlement, consisting of four courtyards, was called "Village". The village of Nikolskoye was formed nearby from immigrant odnodvorets . Later, the village of Sheremetev appeared. Over time, the three settlements merged into one - the village of "Nikolskoye, Peak Ries identity." In Ryazh’s scribe books for 1652 it was written: “On the estate ... the foals of the village of Nikolsky, that there was a wasteland Wild field, on the river on the Ryasakh ..., and in the village on the crippled ground there is a chapel where there are churches of the great wonderworker Nikola, ...” . At different times, the village was part of the Ryazan (Ranenburg district), Tambov (Lipetsk district) provinces. In 1862, the state (state) peasants lived in the village and there were 267 peasant households. There was an Orthodox church and a school [4] [5] [2] [6] .
