- January 9 - the following stations were opened on line 4 of the Paris Metro : Cité , Saint-Michel , Odeon , Saint-Germain-des-Prés , Saint-Sulpice , Saint-Placid , Vaven [1] .
- April 6 - Montparnasse-Bienvenu station was opened on line 4 of the Paris Metro [1] .
- May 23 - the following stations were opened on line 3 of the Paris Metro: Perer , Vagram , Malserb [1] .
- October 1 - Opening of the Kowloon-Canton Railway , part of which later became the KCR East Line in Hong Kong .

- The first section of line 7 of the Paris Metro with the stations: Port de la Villette , Corenten-Cariou , Creame , Riquet , Stalingrad , Chateau Landon , Gar de l 'Est ", " Poissonier " , " Kade " ," Highway d'Anten-Lafayette ", " Opera " [1] .

- November 23 - Louis Blanc station opened on line 7 of the Paris Metro [1] .

- In the Berlin underground, the underground station Nollendorfplatz ( German: Nollendorfplatz ) was opened instead of the aboveground one. [2]
- The U4 Line of the Berlin Underground is open.
- The opening of the Mur Park station on the London Underground line .
- In the European part of Istanbul, Tunel was electrified.
- It was decided to reconstruct the Wittenbergplatz station ( German Wittenbergplatz ) of the U3 line of the Berlin Underground . [2]
