Tournament License

To participate in the tournament, a license of category A , B or C is required [2] .

  • A category A license is granted to 14 teams that had it in the Euroleague 2013/2014 tournament and are arranged in order in accordance with the club rating for the last 3 years.
  • The winner of the European Cup receives a category C license .
  • The category B license is awarded to the remaining teams from 28 places in accordance with the rating of European national leagues (championships) for the last year.
  • When a country’s rating is taken by a team with a license A - a place under license B goes to the next country in rating and the European national league (championship), if a queue is lost, no additional place in the tournament is granted.
  • One license B is reserved for the 2014/2015 Euroleague champion qualification tournament.
  • If the winner of the European Cup receives a license B, his place in the Euroleague tournament is transferred by wild card to another team in the ranking.

Euroleague has the right to revoke a license in the following case:

  • A club with a license A has a low club rating among all clubs with a license A.
  • The club occupies a low final place in the European national league (championship).
  • The club has financial problems.
  • In the Spanish ACB League, when the champion and / or the second place winner in the league are teams that are not licensed A. The club, licensed A, but ranked low, participates in the tournament. If this happens three times in five years, the club’s license A will be revoked.
