The association was founded on September 4, 1991 by six Catholic clergymen, including world-famous exorcists — Italian and Briton [1] [2] . Despite the initially “closed” type of organization, by 2000 the number of its members had reached 200 people. The clergy themselves note that the growth in demand for exorcist services has reached a critical point [3] .
On June 13, 2014, the Association was officially recognized by Pope Francis [4] , in connection with which the Congregation for the Clergy on the basis of Article 322.1 of the Code of Canon Law approved the charter of the association.
Since 2012, the president of the Association is Francesco Bamonte ( Italian: Francesco Bamonte ) [5] .
