Biography
Born in 1913 in the village of Borzunovo now in the Leninsky district of the Tula region . Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1944. He graduated from elementary school. He worked at the Tula arms factory.
In October 1941 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . In the battles of World War II from November 1941. He fought on the 3rd Belorussian Front .
The commander of the machine gun crew of the 366th rifle regiment, Sergeant Major A. T. Suchkov, distinguished himself in street battles for the city of Königsberg (now Kaliningrad). On April 8, 1945, during the battle for the city, the opponents tried to organize a counterattack. Three tanks and two self-propelled guns, accompanied by a hundred gunners, unexpectedly appeared on the Hindenburgstrasse. But the machine gunner A.T. Suchkov cut off with well-aimed fire and forced the enemy infantry to lie down, and the anti-tank artillery, knocking out one self-propelled gun, forced the other vehicles to withdraw. On April 9, 1945, foreman A.T. Suchkov from a machine gun destroyed several firing points and a significant number of opponents. The soldiers of the battalion repulsed all counterattacks, captured rich trophies, took three thousand prisoners and freed two thousand Soviet citizens from captivity.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, for the exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism shown to this, the elder Alexander Timofeevich Suchkov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .
In 1946, A.T. Suchkov was discharged. He lived in the city of Tver. He worked as a fireman. He died on July 1, 1965.
